Cure for Worries

How do we get rid of worries? What should we do? The Bible asks us to cast your cares and worries upon the Lord … to commit and entrust yourself and your desires and concerns totally to Him. 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” How is that possible to do that?

casted sheepGod often describes His children being like sheep. When a sheep falls and ends up on its back, it is said to be “cast.” A cast sheep is totally helpless and has no resources upon which it can draw to get going again.  When we worry, we are like cast sheep. We have no resources within ourselves upon which to draw that will really affect our situation.  But Jesus actually wants us to cast ourselves upon Him.  He wants us to come to the end of our own resources so that we will depend upon Him for our very life.  When we cast ourselves upon Him, He gently picks us up and carries us in His arms.  Isaiah 40:11 “He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart.”

According to Luke 12:22–34 worries are worthless, and says if we worry…

  • We have to remember, life is more than food and clothes Luke 12:22
  • We miss the meaning of life Luke 12:23
  • We have to remember that God is feeding the birds and will feed you as well Luke 12:24
  • We can not extend the length of our lives Luke 12:25
  • We have to know that worry is futility Like 12: 26
  • We spill our time worrying Luke 12:27
  • We show we don’t trust God Luke 12:28
  • We set our hearts on everything else than trust Luke 12:29
  • We are like those who don’t believe in God Luke 12:30
  • We don’t put God’s kingdom first when we worry Luke 12:31
  • We forget what the Lord already has given us Luke 12:32
  • We put ourselves first above others Luke 12:33
  • We treasure the tangible more than the eternal Luke 12:34

How do you measure up? We can give that step to trust the Lord “recklessly” for the “stuff” you were worrying about. Give it to the Lord, whatever it is you were worrying about, now in prayer, and trust Him…He will answer, perhaps not within your time schedules, but He will!
