Addicted to Approval of Others – This is what you say:

A person who are living for the approval of others is normally saying things like,

  • “I am not good enough.”
  • “I have to earn your love.”
  • “I can never please you.”
  • “I am always the one at fault.”
  • “I know that what I think isn’t important.”
  • “I don’t deserve to be loved.”
  • “I don’t feel that God could ever love me.”
  • “I have to try harder.”
  • “I have to be perfect.”
  • “I always feel stupid.”
  • “I am not acceptable in the eyes of others.”
  • “I know there is nothing likeable about me.”
  • “I don’t feel anyone could really love me.”

Even though you may think these thoughts are true about yourself, they don’t reflect God’s truth. The Bible says, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10). When this is true, you have the approval of God and you are worthy! This will allow you to be free to the addiction of people’s approval. Look to God not to people for approval.
